a place under the moon

Sciences are slow to study the relationship between women and anything. Of least importance is women's health, and to list the books on this subject I could write for an hour. If we reimagine our past, starting from before even the Ishango bone, we can begin our journey of selenic interest right away. One of the reasons we scarcely know the word is because we recognize early on in human history that women possess a special connection to the moon where others do not. In our imagined world, our sister universe, we celebrate this connection throughout time. A new religion is made of praising the moon and studying it's effects on the earth and it's inhabitants. We create, paint, sculpt and weave lunar imagery into our patterns, homes and adornments.
3600 years ago, early human hands created the Nebra disc, our earliest depiction of the cosmos, including the Pleiades cluster. The importance of the moon being so widely accepted in women's nature is cause for continued study and reflection. Women studied the moon, working with bronze and gold especially, and created all manner of art, from jewellery to scale models. In the images in this collection we regard women practicing selenic studies and charting their own natures as well as the movements of them moon, creating new discs and new discoveries celebrated and eternalized in artworks.
It is still considered 'coincidence' that at some point each and every woman on earth will have a cycle that syncs up perfectly with that of the movements of a lunar cycle. In science, are there coincidences that involve one entire half of the population? Syncing with the moon is technically a universal experience for all women.
Imagine, reimagine, a world where woman can pursue knowledge of their own bodies, their own health, their own systems. This pursuit leads to the discovery of magic, of the earth and cosmos incredibly powerful connection, and a humbling perspective of which we can see ourselves as a part of a sacred system too grand to fully comprehend. Life has more mystery as we are made aware of our own special purposes and paths, and enlightened women lead only to further enlightenment for all others.
