SPice and OIL

The idea seen in the Spice Trade collection is that of travel, musty ships that smell of wood, salty air, burnt oil and tobacco. Sailing as merchants or explorers, safe to explore as much as one can.
There is no feeling of ill-at-ease to imagine a woman aboard a floating ship, away from laws and safety. We are building empires and following our hearts, expanding our knowledge and experiences to potentially share with generations to come.

This concept appeared very early on for me, when I thought about alternate lives we were not allowed to live.

"It's not safe for a woman to (insert verb here) " is gone entirely.

Maybe she wants to stay home and cross stitch, as it gives her pleasure to do so. Maybe she wants to sail and trade spices and oils, as it gives her pleasure to do so.
